How is Hasta Foods ghee made?
Our ghee follows the traditional bilona-style method. Milk is set into curd, the curd is churned, butter is separated, and the butter is simmered into ghee before it is filled into the jar. We pay attention to the raw materials, because the quality of the ghee begins long before it reaches the jar.
Step 1
Milk to curd
Milk is set into curd.
Step 2
Churn
The curd is churned.
Step 3
Butter
Butter is separated.
Step 4
Simmer
The butter is simmered into ghee.
Step 5
Jar
The ghee is filled into the jar.
Our focus is on keeping the taste, aroma and consistency that customers expect from Hasta. You can read how three generations of the family built this approach in the Hasta Foods story.
Does Hasta Foods make its own ghee?
Hasta Foods is based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and makes cow ghee in the bilona-style way described above. For specific volumes or specifications, we also source from vetted partner dairies. Every batch, whether made by us or sourced, passes the same quality checks before it is dispatched.
We say this plainly because importers and distributors audit their suppliers, and you should know who made the ghee you buy.
How is the ghee tested?
Our ghee is tested at an NABL-accredited laboratory to check the parameters relevant to the product. The laboratory is Excellence Laboratory in Madurai, and a report for batch H_577272 is dated 12 September 2026. The laboratory is accredited, not the product itself.
